Year 12 Physics
Subject Description
This course enables students to develop knowledge and a coherent understanding of Physical Sciences. It also encourages students to develop investigative skills and provides opportunities for students to develop the attitudes on which scientific investigation depend. The course also helps to develop students’ interest in and understanding of the knowledge and processes of Science which form the basis of many future careers.
There are 4 internal standards that have a total credit value of 15 credits. There is one 6 credit external standard which will be assessed in the end of year NCEA Level 2 External Exams. Overall there are 21 credits at Level 2, offered in this course.

Term 1
Chemistry:Acid and Base Titration : Quantitative Analysis: Internal Assessment -4 credits.
Biology: Osmosis - Biological Practical Investigation.
Term 2
Biology: Continuation of Osmosis : 4 credits Internal.
Physics: Practical investigation that lead to a non linear mathematical relationship- 4 credits
Term 3
Physics : Demonstrate understanding of atomic and nuclear physics. Internal 3 credits.
Physics: Demonstrate understanding of Mechanics.
Term 4
Physics: Demonstrate understanding of Mechanics
