Year 13 Biology

Subject Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr S. Sharma.

Year 13 Biology enables students to develop knowledge and a coherent understanding of the living world. It also encourages students to develop investigative skills and provides opportunities for students to develop the attitudes on which scientific investigation depend. The course also helps to develop students’ interest in and understanding of the knowledge and processes of Biology which form the basis of many future careers. In particular it provides practical and theoretical experience for students who wish to pursue a future career in the Health Sciences/Biomedical Sciences/Medicine/Environmental Sciences.   There are 3 internal standards that have a total credit value of 10 credits. There is two external standards that have a total of 9 credits, which will be assessed in the end of the year NCEA Level 3 External Exams. Overall there are 19 credits at Level 3, offered in this course.
