NCEA Level 1 Health
The Health course at level one builds on the Year 7-10 Junior course which deepens understanding and knowledge of the key areas of health; food and nutrition, relationships and sexuality and mental health. It provides a strong foundation for students to take Level 2 and 3 Health.
Students will complete standards that involves;
- exploring health and wellbeing through Te Whare Tapa Whā and other holistic models, such as Fonofale
- developing understanding that Kaitiakitanga and whakawhanaungatanga are vital for the wellbeing and sense of self-worth of individuals, whānau, and communities
- developing understanding that a variety of health-promotion actions are needed at personal, interpersonal, and societal levels to enhance hauora
- learning about how principles of fairness and inclusiveness that can be applied to hauora and wellbeing
Health, Physical Education & Health
Taking Health can lead onto careers including community health workers, health promotion, health service manager, medical careers; health practitioner within health sector.
