Subject Description

In years 7, students learn about the key concepts of Physical Education and Health in the same subject. The New Zealand curriculum describes 4 strands to define the education required for this very important learning area. The St Paul's College Physical Education and Health Department echo’s this approach.The 4 strands are as follows:

  1. Personal Health and Physical Development
  2. Movement Concepts and Motor Skills
  3. Relationships with Other People
  4. Healthy Communities and Environments

Students learn in, through and about movement and a variety of contexts are used. Teachers assess students across the 4 strands both formally and informally across any given year.
